Server daily maintenance (re: Help Us Find Gareth)

Just a quick note I think nobody has mentioned here yet:

For non-regular readers/posters of this messageboard pls. be advised that it's inaccessible every day during some 10 minutes around ± 10:20 am BST, due to "server daily maintenance".
If one happens to be logged in and busy posting while this occurs, don't worry; once you made a 'preview' already, soon as the site is back you'll find your text back too, and you can just continue working and posting.

Safest and most convenient thing though with posting on webforums and especially if you're dealing with long texts/contributions, will always be to copy your contribution & any link-codes to a (temporary) text file (such as MS Word) first, before clicking "send reply".

posticon - Viewing the site with either IE or Mozilla Firefox

Something we discovered last night:
Using IE6 while surfing to the website itself: www.garethkochlostinnepal.co.uk
the text below the 3 small photos of Gareth does nót show up precisely in the right places. But when using Mozilla Firefox, the text explaining those 3 photos is exactly in the right place. Resolution in both cases 1024 x 768.

Another thing I don't understand is this: I logged in on the runboard just now, through Firefox. And then opened a new screen in IE6 to surf to the runboard as well. Instead of seeing my name as "logged in", the board showed me as a guest.
And (because this was the night to do some experimenting) while being on the website's homepage both with Firefox and with a second screen through IE6, there was a slight difference in the visitors-number shown by the counter down below on the page. When in Firefox it said there were 2707 visitors, when I lateron surfed to the site with IE6 it said I was number 2706.

Never mind; there are more important things than this. I'm glad I've found out I can use all the links on the homepage in Firefox, whereas in IE6 they usually don't work or only after a very long time, and I often have to re-start my computer again. However, when I tried to post this reply using Firefox and clicked for a preview, nothing happened and I still can't make the page move an inch. So I went to this thread again starting my IE6 browser, in order to post this reply. "Preview" working without any delays or problems.
(My daughter says it's probably high time I buy a new computer...)

Edit - This is crazy. When on the homepage of the site, with Firefox, every time I "renew" the page (not leaving it and going there again, but just renew) the visitors counter moved 1 up. It now showed 2711 visitors (Firefox), when I went there again with a whole fresh IE browser, to find (like stated before, but that makes sense because it's the same IP) I'm visitor # 2706.
But don't let me turn this thread into one about IT and computers and so on.

Re: Help Us Find Gareth

David,
Just a short note to let you know that the "trekker information books" for trekkers to fill in details oftheir itinery etc will be distributed into the Khumbu region lodges with the help of the Namche youth group during January 2006. We have to set up a system on line for people to contact the Namche Youth Group via the net to check on any suspected missing people in the Khumbu region or to contact people who may have seen them (using contact info from the books).

Rgds,
Davejkt

Thanks David.

I have been off-line for over two weeks so I am trying to catch up.

I have sent you and Donald a personal email.

David.
